Microsoft just released a surprisingly useful tool that aims to fix your Windows 10 Start menu.
The Start menu in Windows 10 is useful, but it’s certainly not perfect. Your Start menu can develop problems like when tiles go missing or when menus refuse to open at all.
In other cases, tiles don’t refresh, or Cortana never responds to your inquiries.
Fortunately, Microsoft’s free Start Menu Repair Tool aims to fix all of these PC problems for free. You download it, install it, run it, and hopefully give yourself a fully functional Start menu.
How Does It Work?
Here’s how Microsoft explains its new Start Menu Repair Tool:
“When you run the troubleshooter on your Windows 10 PC, it checks if required applications such as Microsoft.Windows.ShellExperienceHost and Microsoft.Windows.Cortana applications are installed correctly, and checks permission issues with registry keys, checks if the tile database is corrupt and finally, checks if the application manifest is corrupt.”
In other words, it works in a similar way to powerful registry cleaners like Total System Care: it checks for errors at the root level of your PC, looks for problems with registry files, and identifies and repairs corrupt entries.
The application is ideal for anyone who has had trouble with the Windows 10 Start menu. Some users have had inexplicable troubles with the Start menu, only for those troubles to disappear as soon as they ran this tool.
You run the tool, reboot your system, and fix your Start menu errors. That’s it. According to most errors, it genuinely works as advertised.
